Atco Pipelines Proximity Agreement
The written authorization of the operator of a pipeline to conduct activities in the vicinity of a pipeline may take the form of a crossing agreement or an approximation agreement. These often impose stricter conditions on the ground on disruptors than the minimum regulatory requirements. A priority pipeline has certain limits within which the pipeline operator has the right to construct pipelines and control operations. If the proposed soil malfunction is within the priority of the pipeline, the drifter must obtain written permission from the pipeline operator. If the Alberta One-Call locates a high-pressure line on your property, this will be indicated on your Certificate of Location. If you intend to dig within 30 meters of the line, you will need a crossing or approximation agreement before starting the ditch. Pipelines that cross a provincial or national border are regulated by the National Energy Board. There are minor differences between provincial and federal regulations, but their intentions are similar. The requirements set out in this Section apply only to regulated provincial and federal pipelines. Alberta`s Pipeline Act and Regulations also require anyone proposing ground disturbance to search an area 30 m beyond the limits of the proposed ground disturbance for the presence of pipelines. In the mid-1970s, the Government of Alberta established Transportation/Supply Corridors (UCTs) in and around Calgary and Edmonton to ensure coordinated development for long-term goals.
Its aim is to create space for the future development of circular roads, to accommodate distribution companies such as oil and gas pipelines, power lines and supply distribution systems such as wastewater, water, gas, telephone, cable TV and electricity, and to serve as open spaces in an urban environment. The construction of transportation or access routes and the movement of vehicles or equipment along or by a pipeline priority, with the exception of the developed and used portion of a highway or highway, have the potential to damage pipelines. Prior written authorisation and authorisation for this type of activity must be obtained from the pipeline operator. Within the province, pipelines that transport fossil fuels such as natural gas, petroleum and natural gas liquids, water and water disposal pipes or other pipelines or other buried supply companies that are related to an energy project and that are subject to a « pipeline » in accordance with the Alberta Energy Regulator`s (AER) Oilseeds Act. If you come across an underground natural gas line, call our hotline immediately at 1-800-511-3447. The use of Hydrovac devices for the commissioning of frozen earth refuelling systems may be acceptable to the operator of a buried distribution undertaking. In an emergency situation or in a situation where it is neither possible nor practical to thaw the soil, contact the operator for advice on how to proceed. . .
